The Hackathon will start at June 19, 2020 06:00 AM Singapore time and end at Jun 20, 2020 11:55 PM Singapore time. You may only work on your hack during this allotted time only.
This hackathon is fully online and you are welcome to participate from anywhere.
There are 3 themes in this Hackathon, you must submit an MVP (minimum viable product) app that is in one of these themes.
Once the Hackathon starts, you will get an option to submit your MVP app. You can submit as many times as you want, but the latest submission will be considered as the final submission.
You are expected to come up with new and innovative ideas as well as refer to any existing apps. However, submissions consisting of blatant plagiarism or usage of unlicensed code or contents will be disqualified.
Each MVP app must contain at least 1 of Sentient.io’s AI or Data micro-service to qualify.
You are not only allowed, but highly encouraged to also use open-source APIs/micro-services and other freely available systems / services such as Google Maps, Facebook Connect, Weather, etc, in conjunction with the Sentient.io’s micro-services.
The intellectual property of your code belongs to the organiser of this Hackathon.
By participating in the Hackathon, you agree to the terms and conditions of Sentient.io.
Each submission is evaluated based on two major parts:
APP DEVELOPMENT (50%)
We understand that participants may have a varying level of development skills, so we are offering 3 different options for teams to come up with an MVP app that fits the problem statement (scores are awarded based on difficulty):
OPTION 1: Modify an existing demo app to include new micro-services (3-5pts)
OPTION 2: Create a new app with defined specs (5-7 pts) (additional details available in the resources section)
OPTION 3: Create a new app from scratch (6-9 pts) (without relying on any suggestions or guides)
To make the process more fun, you can also earn bonus points by using a microservice that is NOT already yet used in any demo app (additional +1pts)
Note: The total points for app development (including bonus points) be capped at a maximum of 10 points. For participants that want to take Option 2, a registration process is required.
APP QUALITY (50%)
On top of the actual development, your submissions will also be evaluated on these additional judging criteria:
Problem Statement Solution Fit (20%) - How aligned are you with the problem statement? How does your MVP app addresses the problem statement? How innovative or disruptive is your proposed solution?
Teamwork (10%) - How well spread out is the workload for your team? Is the team working synergistically?
Tech Quality (10%) - How appropriate is your choice of frameworks, technology, and platforms adopted to build your idea? How robust is the development as well as associated processes (e.g. development documentation, repository, etc)?
